Glowing...

Exodus 34:29-35

29-30 When Moses came down from Mount Sinai carrying the two Tablets of The Testimony, he didn't know that the skin of his face glowed because he had been speaking with God. Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses, saw his radiant face, and held back, afraid to get close to him.

31-32 Moses called out to them. Aaron and the leaders in the community came back and Moses talked with them. Later all the Israelites came up to him and he passed on the commands, everything that God had told him on Mount Sinai.

33-35 When Moses finished speaking with them, he put a veil over his face, but when he went into the presence of God to speak with him, he removed the veil until he came out. When he came out and told the Israelites what he had been commanded, they would see Moses' face, its skin glowing, and then he would again put the veil on his face until he went back in to speak with God.

This is our target scripture today...

You ever notice how when a woman is pregnant, people see a "glow" about her? I have been noticing people saying more recently. It kinda started when I was watching Tyler Perry's "Why Did I Get Married Too?" I was watching and one of the women in the story had this radiating glow on her that her best friends noticed.

We see in this portion of scripture that Moses has been up with God on this extended timeline. The interesting part to me is that God gave Moses all the commandments the people were to follow, but that wasn't what made him glow. Moses asked God to show him "HIS GLORY" but that too wasn't what made Moses glow. God instead showed Moses his goodness (EX. 33) but that didn't make Moses glow. God gave Moses and the people of Israel (and by adoption Christians too)a wonderful promise to make them great, to do wonders before them that have never been seen, and to protect, drive out enemies, and make the people see how 'awesome' He really is.

But that is still not why Moses had a glow.

Moses had a glow, a physical, discernible, tangible glow on his face because he SPENT TIME WITH GOD. He was in God's presence. God wants us to glow too, every day.

How many of us spend time in God's presence? I mean I get that God's presence is in us (the Holy Spirit), but how much of our time do we set aside to allow God to speak? to allow God to actually be real to us. We can read the bible evening to morning, week in and week out, but unless we CHOOSE to allow God to work in our lives, we will not ever glow.

Here's the other interesting part of this scripture. God made all those promises as a by-product of Moses's time.

The more time we spend allowing God to move and be in our lives. The more we submit our will, our way, and our plans, and say, "God I want YOUR will, YOUR way, and YOUR plans" that's when all that happens. We are constantly healthy, we constantly have enough, we will prosper and be in health because our soul will be prospering. (3 John 1:2
Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.)

Time to put away distraction, noise, barriers and hindrances, time to put away regulations and religion. Its time to spend time with HIM and allow Him to make you GLOW!
