The greatest lie ever told

Did I pull you in? Are you reading? I am not talking about me, or anyone close to me today. I am talking about a trend I have noticed in Christianity.

Revelation 12:10
Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down.

Pastor Nick Lembo, a new friend of mine, brought this up to me and it got me thinking... If the "accuser of our brothers" is doing a lot more than just accusing.

The devil is a liar, a thief and a master of twisting deception. If you read in Genesis 3 about how he acted towards Eve, we have an interesting thing happen. Satan comes to Eve as a Snake, he was lying about who he really was (something he still does today by the way). Why would he be so near the tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil? God just gave me a little more insight. Sometimes the devil comes in and lies "just enough" to us to confuse, twist, and pervert what God has made good. After God was finished making man, the bible reads, "God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day." (Genesis 1:31) Up to this point, the day man is created, God merely describes creation as good.

Good.

But after God creates His masterpiece, Man, he describes it as VERY good. That word in the Hebrew for very is pronounced meh·ōde'. It means EXCEEDINGLY, HIGHEST, etc. Interestingly enough, it is the same word that the writer of Samuel uses to tell about the vast knowledge of Solomon(ya know, the wisest man of all time?).

It got me thinking, God made this tree, and the devil is a created being, but doesn't have the creative breath of life (like man), he can't create things. Selah. He Cannot come in a create something in our lives. In fact, he doesn't even have the creative breath that God gave humans. All he can do is twist and pervert what was already there...

Selah.

So go back to Revelation for a minute. think about all the times in your life where you have what the King James calls "aught" (disconnect, break, hurt, anger etc.) with someone. IF the devil cannot create, only twist and pervert, and we are God's children, How is it that we are able, and often very willing, to break ties and hurt our brothers and sisters in Christ?

We hear an accusation, false most often, about someone, and then the devil takes that and pushes it a bit further into our hearts. He tries to work it in, let it take root, and cause a disconnect. If he can't, then he causes emotional turmoil, grief, and a LOT of confusion to happen that distracts us from Seeking reconciliation with that person(people).

The accuser is doing all of this in the dark. How do we counter this? Bring it in the light.

The bible says that if you have a grievance with your brother, you take it to your brother and allow him to ask for mercy (forgiveness/LOVE). If your brother DOES NOT ask for it, you are to take 2-3 people with you and talk to them again. IF that STILL doesn't work, you are to bring them before the congregation and if that doesn't work, you are to remove them.

The thing I have found in Christianity lately is the desire to not deal with it at all... Just let it sit. Now you and I both know that this is not something new, but in the Church its absolutely imperative that we do not allow this seed of accusation into our hearts and lives.

The way we do this is to bring it into the light, its amazing how when we turn on a light all the darkness flees. Most often, the best solution is to GO TO THAT PERSON, even though it hurts to do so, you will NEVER BE FREE of the pain until you do. The worst part of this is, if left unchecked and un-dealt with, it eats at you and you will relive it over and over again.
